About COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 tests are readily available. You should make proper use of them if there is any reason why it would be a good idea for you to be tested. Here are some times when it would be a good idea for you to be tested, as well as some examples of times when it may even be more of a necessity.

You may have been exposed to COVID

If you have found out that you may have been exposed to COVID, then you should be tested. This is true even if you have been vaccinated because breakthrough cases can occur. A breakthrough case of COVID is when a person who has been fully vaccinated for the virus ends up falling ill with it anyway. Even if you aren't feeling sick, you need to know if you have contracted COVID, even if you aren't symptomatic. This is important to know, so you don't put others at risk by being around them while you are capable of passing the illness on to them.

You are having symptoms similar to COVID symptoms

If you are feeling sick, then it's a good idea to be tested for COVID, so you can find out if you have it. This way, you can start on the course of treatment that your doctor feels is best, right away. Since there is such a large variety of possible symptoms with COVID, you should call your doctor when you are feeling sick to see whether they feel a test may be in order. It's also important to rule out COVID, so you know whether you should be quarantining or not.

You should be screened for a particular situation

There are many situations you may want to be tested for. One example of a time when you may want to be tested is when you are planning on doing some traveling. You are going to want to be tested, so you can show proof to show anyone who may require proof of a negative test during, or in preparation for, your travels. One example of someone you may have to show proof of a negative test to would be the airline. Another example of a situation you may want to test in preparation for is going to a large event, such as a family reunion. You will want to know that it is going to be safe for you to be around your family in an up-close capacity.
